From flipping text book pages to ripping stages: M.anifest makes emotional return to Alma mater as concert headliner

To perform as one of the main artists for the 2023 SpringFest, Ghanaian rapper M.anifest traveled an emotional distance back to Macalester College, the institution he attended for his undergraduate studies when he was younger.

The University community was treated to performances by M.anifest, Armani White, whose song “Billie Eiish” went viral, Gully Boys, and other artists during the university’s annual music show, which is organized by the students.

Over ten years ago, M.anifest earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the liberal arts institution located in Saint Paul.

The rapper uploaded video of his performance on Twitter on Thursday, calling his visit to his alma institution a “emotional return.” The return had been referred to before as a “Full circle moment”

A selection of M.anifest’s well-known songs, including “Suffer,” “Tomorrow,” “Game Over,” and “Someway Bi,” were performed for the kids, who applauded and sang along with the rapper.

Speaking at a private event hosted prior to the concert, the well-known Ghanaian rapper cited his musical background and his time living in Saint Paul and Minneapolis as an undergraduate as a major impact on his musical career.

M.anifest is one of the most well-known Ghanaians to have attended the esteemed college, along with the late Kofi Annan, a former Secretary-General of the United Nations.
