Rombola Family Farms is seeking to employ a passionate and skilled National Technical Manager to oversee technical operations across our diverse farm locations.

Rombola Family Farms is a large scale, progressive, privately owned horticultural business based 20kms North of Griffith, NSW.

Rombola Family Farms encompasses over 4,000 hectares of intensive irrigated horticultural production at Griffith (NSW), Bundaberg (QLD) and Mataranka (NT). Agricultural enterprises include Seedless Watermelon, Rockmelons, Broccoli, Pumpkin, Almonds and Winegrapes. Operations include primary production, processing, value adding and marketing. The company operates counter-seasonal operations in Mataranka (Northern Territory), and in Bundaberg (Queensland), allowing us to supply our melons and pumpkins to our customers year-round.

Requirements:

Languages: Candidate must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: A degree in Agricultural Science, Food Science, Food Technology, or related field.

We are looking for a candidate who possess the following:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role within the agricultural sector, preferably with exposure to Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG).
  • Proven track record of driving technical initiatives and implementing industry best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, strategic planning, and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively and work across multiple locations as needed.

As a National Technical Manager, your responsibilities include;

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of technical staff across multiple farm locations.
  • Develop and implement technical strategies aligned with productivity and sustainability goals.
  • Drive innovation in production techniques, utilizing technology and best practices to optimize crop quality and technical operations.
  • Collaborate with farm managers and agronomists to ensure the effective implementation of technical solutions, quality control measures, and efficient post-harvest management practices.
  • Act as a technical advisor, providing guidance and support to internal teams and external stakeholders, engaging in stakeholder interactions, liaising with customers and supermarkets to forecast potential issues, leading corrective action plans, and conducting thorough root cause analysis to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Anticipate market trends and innovate solutions accordingly to deliver a competitive advantage as a supplier of choice.
  • Drive continuous improvement in technical operations, processes, and service quality.
  • Actively contribute to the development of safe plant, equipment, and work practices.
