Why choose a candidate in the NPP contest who has been accused of lying? asks Alan Boy

Whether they would choose a candidate whose name shows on Google as Ghana’s top liar or a politician whose trustworthiness is beyond doubt is the question Kwasi Korang, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), asked party delegates.

As a member of Alan Kyerematen’s campaign staff, he made the case that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president, who is backed by national executives and appointees of the government, has a number of problems that might harm their chances in 2024.

He thus wants the delegates to consciously choose to support Alan Cash since he runs for office without any baggage.

He is ready for the NDC to start propagandising Dr. Bawumia, some of which are real and some of which are fake.

If the Vice President is selected as a presidential contender in 2024, he thinks those that are accurate may affect their chances.

He was answering in response to a query on a claim he made regarding a candidate, who, in his opinion, made remarks that were recorded and may be used as a reference point if that person is chosen as a candidate.

When questioned about whether he was referring to Dr. Bawumia, he responded, “I am not in a position to answer that issue. The one who asked the inquiry might also give an explanation. But I’m telling the NPP delegates that while I was on another radio show, someone asked me why we don’t want Dr. Bawumia to head the NPP given the hardships he had to go to get the job and the accusations that he was a liar. My reaction was, “Why settle for the liar if you think they’re lying when you have a candidate with unquestionable credibility?”

If you put the word “liar” into Google and a candidate’s name pops up, and that candidate is the one you want running, you do not want that party to win the election.

You must submit a candidate who is trustworthy and has no problems in his past. I can’t respond to that, but I would like to highlight that you should look for a candidate who would be lot simpler to sell than one whose credibility will be questioned, he told host Kwabena Agyapong.
