Empowering Youth Through Skill Training: A Mountain of Grace Cathedral Initiative
Mountain of Grace Cathedral, A.M.E. Zion Church, Oyibi, has taken a step towards empowering the youth through a skill training initiative aimed at equipping them with business abilities to enable them to earn a living.
During the training, the participants were taught how to make beads, bridal fans, fascinators, and bead embroidery, among other things. This was to enable them to start their own enterprises and become self-sufficient.
According to Mr. Thomas Ahortor, the Church’s Youth Leader, the training was designed to empower and develop the young so that they could contribute significantly to the development of the church and society.
“In a nutshell, the training will help to unearth some hidden talent, provide work for the unemployed, and increase revenue for church employees. The participants will also be given technical and vocational training to help them become employable and productive citizens,” Mr. Ahortor stated.
He challenged the participants to use the abilities they had learned to make a significant contribution to society.
The lead facilitator, Ms. Brianna Seyram Atsupi Dika, Chief Executive Officer of Brianna’s Creative Hub, emphasized the need for practical understanding of specialization for enhanced livelihood.
Ms. Dika stated that the younger generation requires practical training to assist them in becoming entrepreneurs for the country’s development, particularly in an era when there is less room for employment in the government sector.
“In a nutshell, skilled training is the order of the day. I praise the church for its contributions to improve the livelihood of young people,” Ms. Dika added.
The initiative is commendable, as it will equip the youth with relevant skills to start their own businesses and become self-sufficient. It will also reduce unemployment among the youth and contribute to the development of society.
In a nutshell, the initiative is a step in the right direction towards empowering the youth and should be emulated by other organizations and institutions to ensure a brighter future for the youth and the country at large.
