Tensions occurred during the ongoing restoration of the Akatawia Sekesua-Sumuer junction route in Upper Manya Krobo, Eastern Region, when a dispute arose between the building firm and the proprietor of the Akatawia logistics site.

The construction business, which had taken ownership of the land in 2016 for use as a logistics facility, ran into problems owing to nonpayment by the Central Government, causing them to depart the site five years ago.

When they returned, they learned that a church had been erected on their property.

The church refused to relocate, but the contractor insisted on reclaiming possession.

Hon Bismark Tetteh Nyarko played a critical role in defusing the issue by enabling the contractor’s move to a new site in Sekesua following being informed of the challenges faced.

However, the contractor encountered an additional difficulty when the original landowner filed a complaint with the police in Asesewa for illegal occupancy of the land.

Hon Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, accompanied by the contractor, attended the Asesewa Police Station to withdraw the complaint and seek a peaceful conclusion.

The MP’s proactive engagement helped to de-escalate the situation and allowed discussions to proceed.

Construction work continues smoothly at the new location in Sekesua, underscoring the commitment to resolve the conflict while keeping the road reconstruction project on track.
