By God’s Grace, he continued, “I think that is the first step of our victory in 2024.”

He continued by telling a tale of his poor beginnings and the challenges he faced to get to where he is now.

He acknowledged that his path through life had not been straightforward and said that getting to this point had required a lot of grit, discipline, and commitment.

“I attended Sakasaka Primary School, Tamale Secondary School, Oxford University, and the Bank of Ghana, where I served as Deputy Governor before being elected Vice President of the Republic of Ghana. I praise God for how far he has carried me since it has been a wonderful adventure.

“I have worked as a day labourer on farms during the summers while I was in secondary school, a warehouse boy even after graduating from university, and a small truck driver. During my time at Oxford University, I could only afford to pay tuition for one term, but with the help of my peers, I was able to get by without paying tuition for the remainder of my studies. I didn’t pay my fees in full until I started working after receiving my Ph.D. in Canada. I also worked as a toiletry cleaner while attending university in Canada, so I can honestly say that life has not been simple for me at all.

“I’ve learned from my life’s experiences not to take anything for granted and to constantly respect others, regardless of their position in society or physical size. After submitting his nomination, he is reported to have stated, “The cleaner or the driver you meet today may be the vice president or the president tomorrow.

For the NPP flagbearership position, the vice president is anticipated to face stiff competition from individuals such as the former Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen; Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong; and the former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, among others.
