“We Can Achieve Great Things Together”: Alabi Commends Mahama Campaign Team
Former President of Ghana, John Mahama has been declared the flagbearer-elect of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2024 general elections. The announcement came after the just-ended primaries of the party held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, where Mr. Mahama won 297,603 (98.9%) of the total valid votes cast.
Prof. Joshua Alabi, the Campaign Chairman for Mr. Mahama, praised the efforts of the team, indicating that their hard work and dedication were instrumental in achieving this significant milestone. He emphasized that the victory was not only crucial to Mr. Mahama but also a testament to the strength of their united front, proving that like-minded individuals can achieve great things when they come together with a common purpose.
This victory marks a significant milestone for Mr. Mahama, who previously failed in his attempts to become President in the 2016 and 2020 elections. His landslide victory in the NDC primaries has positioned him as a formidable candidate for the 2024 general elections.
The Electoral Commission’s Director of Electoral Services, Dr. Serebuor Quaicoe, made the announcement at the party’s headquarters in Accra in the early hours of Sunday, confirming Mr. Mahama as the flagbearer-elect of the NDC.
For the most part, the victory has been attributed to Mr. Mahama’s experience and leadership qualities, having previously served as President from 2012 to 2016. His track record of infrastructural development, job creation, and social intervention programs such as the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) has endeared him to many Ghanaians.
In summary, Mr. Mahama’s victory in the NDC primaries has set the stage for an interesting and competitive 2024 general election. From organizing events to making phone calls and spreading the word on social media. You have been fantastic. Your contributions have been invaluable. Your belief in JDM’s leadership and your determination to see him succeed have been the driving force behind our collective efforts.
I also take this opportunity to thank the leadership of the various churches who offered their premises for our delegate meetings during the campaign period.
