Former President John Mahama has emerged as the flagbearer-elect of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2024 presidential elections. The NDC’s presidential primaries held on May 13, 2023, saw Mr. Mahama sweeping a resounding 98.9% of the total valid votes, which amounts to 297,603 votes. The victory comes after two unsuccessful attempts in the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections.

Dr. Clement Apaak, the Member of Parliament for Builsa South, has congratulated the rank and file of the NDC for their overwhelming endorsement of Mr. Mahama. In his statement, he described Mr. Mahama as the “Truthful One” and the man to rescue and fix Ghana.

Dr. Apaak also called for unity of purpose and commitment towards victory in the upcoming general elections. He emphasized that under Mr. Mahama’s leadership, Ghana will recover and thrive again.

The victory of Mr. Mahama has been attributed to his tireless efforts and commitment to the NDC’s shared values. In a statement, the campaign chairman, Professor Joshua Alabi, commended the team for their hard work and dedication, which he believes has been instrumental in achieving this significant milestone.

The resounding victory of Mr. Mahama sends a clear message to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and other political parties that the NDC is a formidable force to reckon with. For the most part, the NDC has a united front, and this is a testament to the strength that comes with like-minded individuals coming together with a common purpose.

In summary, the victory of Mr. Mahama as the flagbearer-elect of the NDC is a clear indication that Ghanaians still have faith in his leadership abilities and his vision for the nation. The onus is now on the NDC to rally behind Mr. Mahama and work tirelessly towards victory in the upcoming general elections.
