On Monday, December 18th, the Nursing and Midwifery College, chaired by Hon. Mustapha Ussif, was launched and commissioned in the Yagaba/Kubori constituency.

As it tackles the dearth of trained healthcare personnel, this revolutionary program represents a huge step forward in healthcare education and services for the community.

Hon. Mustapha Ussif, Member of Parliament and Minister for Youth and Sports, stated his commitment to enhancing healthcare services in the district via education and training initiatives. The ceremony was attended by important players such as the North East Regional Minister, Hon. Yidana Zakaria, Regional Health Director, Dr. Braimah Abubakari Baba, and Ministry of Health personnel. They enthusiastically welcomed the construction of the district’s first higher institution.

The foundation for a one-story ultra-modern classroom building was set at the event, underscoring the serious worldwide dilemma of a scarcity of competent healthcare workers. The Nursing and Midwifery College attempts to fill this labor need.

Hon. Mustapha Ussif encouraged the first batch of students to work hard and strive for success as they pursue careers as trained healthcare professionals. He underlined the value of education in unlocking limitless possibilities and molding the community’s healthcare destiny.

Hon. Mustapha Ussif also made a large contribution to the event, including two motorbikes and a 50-inch television to help with teaching and learning. This comes after a prior donation of a minibus, laptops, and other educational supplies. The Member of Parliament stressed his dedication to giving the necessary resources for the college’s success.

The revelation of a major gift by construction business Mawums Limited, however, was a highlight of the celebration. The corporation contributed 1000 sacks of cement to the Nursing and Midwifery College’s building of six contemporary lecture theaters. This significant donation demonstrates the community’s dedication to the success and expansion of healthcare education in the region.

Hon. Ussif expressed his gratitude for the donation, stating, “This support from Mawums Limited is a testament to the collective effort needed to build a brighter and healthier future for our district.” The construction of the lecture theatres, coupled with the generous cement donation, signifies a collaborative effort to ensure the Nursing and Midwifery College becomes a beacon of excellence in healthcare education.
