Desmond Nana Ntow Amirekyi, a former National Organiser of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), asserted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) elite is behind Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential run out of concern for their jobs.

The PNC member claimed that all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), central and local government ministers, and other government officials are publicly endorsing Bawumia because they want to preserve the status quo in an interview with UTV that GHBREAKINGNEWS observed on Thursday, June 22, 2023.

“One thing I’ve observed is that most individuals support Bawumia because they want to uphold their viewpoints, and this is why they do so… You will see if you look closely that this individual has the full support of the federal apparatus.

The whole of the executive branch! They all support Bawumia, he stated in Twi, including the MMDCEs, government appointees, and lawmakers.

Additionally, according to Ntow Amirekyi, the bulk of NPP legislators are backing Bawumia now because they are aware that doing otherwise may hurt their chances of winning the party’s next parliamentary primary elections.

“Ask yourself why the presidential primaries are taking place before the legislative elections. a question mark appears there… All of the MPs who opposed Bawumia would be dealt with if the (presidential) primaries were to be held.

“Ghanaians should inquire as to why Bawumia is receiving support from both the NPP and the government despite his failure to lead the Economic Management Team. Everything, from agriculture to education to technology, is in disarray, yet they are still backing Bawumia, he claimed.
