Members of the National Democratic Congress have been exhorted not to become disheartened by the defeat in the fight over President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-appointments Addo’s to the judiciary and the ministry. This comes from Deputy Majority Leader Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah.

Even though the defeat was intolerable, he maintained that what matters most is that the party unites in preparation for the numerous battles that lie ahead.

Although I was obviously disappointed last night, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself feeling more optimistic and confident that we had only lost a battle and not the war.

The deputy majority leader stated in a tweet that was released on Saturday, March 25, 2023, “We necessarily have to regroup and push on for there are more battles ahead and I know with God on our side we shall win the war in the end.”

Armah-Kofi Buah, the member of parliament for Ellembele, continued, “The victory of the NDC is coming again, and nothing can stop it.”

Two Supreme Court Justices and all six nominations are given approval by Parliament:

After a contentious debate the day before and a stressful voting procedure, Parliament on Friday, March 24 accepted President Akufo-nominations Addo’s for all six ministerial positions as well as the supreme court.

While there were three absentee ballots out of the total 275 eligible voters, the final results announced by Speaker Alban Bagbin revealed that all nominees had more votes than the necessary 138.

Several National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament (MPs) disregarded the party’s decision to vote against the nominees’ ratification.

The appointment of Bryan Acheampong (MP for Abetifi) as Minister of Food and Agriculture and Kobina Tahiru Hammond (MP for Adansi Asokwa) as Minister of Trade and Industry was authorized.

In addition, the nominations of Stephen Asamoah Boateng for the Ministry of Chieftaincy, Mohammed Amin Adam for the Ministry of Finance, and Osei Bonsu Amoah for the Ministry of Local Government were approved.

The Nhyiaeso representative Stephen Amoah received approval to serve as the deputy minister of trade and industry.

Both Judge Ernest Yao Gaewu of the High Court and Justice George Kingsley Koomson of the Court of Appeal were approved as candidates for the Supreme Court.
