“What is tragic is when you see two lesbians or gays attempting to adopt a kid. Whom should go into childbirth so that you may come in and adopt? Watch this insanity, people.

He remarked, “If having children is good, why are you into that nasty act?” on July 5 during a parliamentary discussion of the Constitutional, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs Committee’s report on the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, also known as the anti-gay bill.

For his part, First Deputy Speaker Joseph Osei Owusu (Joewise) stated that Ghanaians should not accept that cultures from other nations are superior to that of Ghana.

He made the point that Ghana could not just accept to replicate what other nations were doing.

The Bekwai politician stated, “Even if it conflicts with how we live our lives and how we want our nation to be administered, we should never accept that other cultures are better to ours to the point that they must urge and demand that we mimic the things they do.”

Dan Botwe, a representative for Okere in the House of Representatives, also stated that in addition to adopting the legislation, there would be a need to devise strategies to counter the spread of homosexuality.

During the legislative discussion, he stated, “Let us practise internal vigilance in addition to enacting the measure.

Mr. Dan Botwe went on to say that there may come a day when young people may purchase for products that have gay symbols painted on them. To that aim, he stated that aside from the bill’s approval, vigilance is needed on the part of all parties involved to stop the spread of homosexuality.

In his additional remarks, he called homosexuality “total madness” and “a satanic force.” He emphasised, “Let us not underestimate this satanic force.”

The study emphasised the issues brought up by both supporters and opponents of the law.

People opposed to the bill, according to the report, assert that “LGBTQ+ activities form part of what the Constitution contemplates under Article 33 (5) about recognition of cerian rights and freedoms that are considered to be inherent in a democracy and which is intended to secure the rights, freedoms, and dignity of the people.

As a result, any attempt to treat people differently based on their sexual orientation or gender will be discriminatory and in contravention of Article (17) 1 and (2) of the Constitution.
