Dr. Arthur Kennedy, a political activist, is opposed to the Criminal Investigation Department’s (CID) proposal of overseeing inquiries into allegations of illicit mining.

He claims that the group is too dependent on the government and has too many flaws to provide thorough and reliable information about the threat.

“I have no confidence that the CID will look at this thoroughly. On the Monday, April 24 JoyNews AM Show, he stated, “I believe they are compromised and overly subservient to the administration.

In order to discuss how to make small-scale mining legal while assuring that it is both beneficial to the nation and the environment, the US-based doctor claimed that a parliamentary hearing is necessary.

Dr. Kennedy bemoaned the growing problem of state capture, in which powerful political figures who support winning candidates try to reap financial rewards from the government.

We are witnessing this fourth republic’s and the nation’s disintegration, he remarked.

As a result, he has urged all Ghanaians to take action before things spiral out of control.

According to a study leaked by the former Environment Minister, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong Boateng, certain top government officials were implicated in illegal mining at the time of his remarks.

Since then, he has been under fire as those accused of the claims have denied them, many of them claiming that the facts had been misrepresented.
