Mr. Richard Kumado, a security specialist, has lamented the overexposure of security personnel to the public.

He claims that using security guards as bodyguards for early-morning jogging activities damages the psychological makeup of the guards.

The security officers are “vulnerable to the broader public because of these acts, such as serving as ushers at weddings and funerals and dispatching for cortège,” he claimed.

The security expert was responding to the incident that took place on April 7, 2023, in Kumawu, Ashanti Region, where the police service detained six people for assaulting a police officer at the Wono Akotsosu snap checkpoint.

According to an inquiry, one additional suspect who is now on the run and the six suspects, Edward Boateng, Evans Addo, Yaw Kusi, Michael Owusu, Yaw Boateng, and Emmanuel Mensah, were pulled over in a taxi at the checkpoint.

On Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 6:00 a.m., during a news interview on Accra 100.5 FM, Mr. Kumado expressed this response.

According to him, those who partake in such behaviour are tarnishing the reputation of the security agency.

He continued by saying that over time, these operations have destroyed the security services’ reputation.

He urged the security management’s top officials to change some of these police personnel’ social customs.

He also mentioned how law enforcement agencies are becoming more disorganised in recent years, necessitating reforms.
