An eyewitness who spoke to citinewsroom.com claimed that the police officer repeatedly begged the troops to stop beating him up and also identified himself as an inspector in an effort to fend off the assault.

According to reports, the police officer went to Accra Central Police Station to report the occurrence.

A few on-duty police officers followed the troops while armed, arresting one of them in the process.

According to reports, the troops tried to rescue their comrade by calling for reinforcements, but the police stiffly fought them until some superior officers were able to defuse the situation.

The eyewitness continued, saying that merchants were stunned to see employees of the nation’s top security agencies fighting openly and abusing one another physically and vocally.
