The EC reprimands the employee who oversaw the pink sheet signature in Kumawu before the polls closed

The electoral official who oversaw the pink sheet signature in the ongoing by-election in Kumawu before the voting would conclude has come under fire from the Electoral Commission (EC).

The officer fared poorly, according to Dr. Serebuor Quaicoe, Director of Electoral Services at the EC.

Additionally, he said that the representatives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who signed did not do properly in doing so.

This was said by Dr. Serebour Quaicoe in an interview with William Evans Nkum, who is now in Kumawu observing the by-election.

“I don’t think our officer did a good job since she should have listened carefully for them to finish the section she was talking about before she moved on to another issue.

Another issue is that the agents didn’t perform properly either. Our officer didn’t perform as expected, and neither did the representatives of the NPP or the NDC, because signing the results implies approval of the results even though the votes haven’t been counted.

It should be mentioned that both of them signed; just one particular party’s representative was involved. That sheet has been replaced with a different one.

Dr. Serebuor Quaicoe added that [the officer] was saying that after finishing his section, he requested [the agents] to write their names there and they went over and above and signed so he didn’t ask them to sign. If so, we can only hold him accountable for failing to keep an eye on them.

Furthermore, he denied the assertion that the agents were coerced into signing.

The earliest allegation is that he coerced them. Can someone, as an adult, make you do things that you have been warned against doing? So I’m tempted to think that they signed by accident.

Poll workers were reportedly coerced into signing the pink sheets prior to the polls closing at Oyoko Methodist Primary School polling station F360203 in the Sekyere Kumawu Constituency by the election officer.
