The Sunyani West Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Abubarkar Sadique, has emphasized the significance of unity among contestants and supporters ahead of the Party’s impending primaries on Saturday, January 27 this year.

He stated that a united front was critical for the Party to get the required support to fight their opponents in the Election 2024 and convincingly win both the presidential and legislative seats.

Alhaji Sadique told the Ghana News Agency in Odumase, Sunyani West Municipality, Bono Region, that it was critical for all members and supporters.

should be dedicated and fight more for the Party’s victory before, during, and after the primaries.

He reminded hopefuls and their supporters that “the primaries are an internal election” and warned them from indulging in dirty campaigns of speaking ill of and spreading misinformation about fellow competitors in order to achieve political benefit.

Such a pattern and method of campaigning, according to Alhaji Sadique, would not bode well for the Party, saying that any insults flung at each other before the primaries would hamper reconciliation later on, while opponents would utilize such differences against the elected candidate.

As a result, he advocated for a clean campaign among hopefuls, emphasizing that the approach should instead promote a deeper relationship and unity inside the Party following the primaries.

Ignatius Baffour Awuah, the present Member of Parliament for Sunyani West, would be challenged in the next primaries by two new candidates, Amma, the lawyer Amma Frimpomaa and Mubarik Abdullah Ciessey.

More than 1,200 delegates are expected to participate in the voting process.
