Jomoro Constituency MP, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has made a significant donation towards the reconstruction of classrooms at Compound Basic School in Jomoro. The donation consisted of 20 tonnes of iron rods and 20 bags of cement to aid the construction of two classrooms for the school. The school had been without permanent classrooms for the past two years following the collapse of two school structures during heavy rainfall. The two buildings had been declared unsafe for use even before their collapse. According to one of the teachers at the school, the pupils had been attending classes in one small classroom after one of the classrooms was converted to accommodate both Kindergarten 1 and 2 pupils.

The donation from the MP has been well received by the school and local community, as it is expected to speed up the reconstruction process of the classrooms. The Odikro of Compound, Nana Ngwa, commended the MP for the donation and assured her that the building materials would be used for their intended purpose. He also urged her to help lobby for the construction of the deplorable roads in the area, which would facilitate the transportation of goods and services in the community.

Madam Adria Amani, one of the teachers at the school, expressed her gratitude to the MP for the donation and noted that the pupils had been cramped in one small classroom, making teaching and learning difficult. She emphasized that the donation had come at the right time and would enable the pupils to have a better learning environment.

In response, the MP pledged to bring more development to the people of Jomoro and its environs. She also promised to provide additional assistance if the building materials donated are inadequate. Finally, she urged the NDC delegates to vote for her in the impending primaries to elect a parliamentary candidate, to enable her to continue her good work for the people of Jomoro.

For the most part, the donation made by the MP will go a long way in addressing the plight of the pupils at Compound Basic School who have been without proper classrooms for the past two years. It is expected that the speedy reconstruction of the classrooms will provide a conducive learning environment for the pupils, thereby improving the quality of education in the area.
