The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has pledged to renovate the Mantse Tackie Tawiah I cluster of schools at Adabraka in Accra as part of its educational mission. The renovation aims to improve the quality of education in the area and produce students who are competent and confident to contribute to national development.

At a ceremony to cut the sod and unveil the prototype of the project in Accra, Mr Gifford Nielsen, the President of the West Africa Area for the Church, announced that the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2023. The renovated cluster will feature a new library, ICT facility, borehole, additional classroom blocks, and an Astro Turf, all of which will benefit more than 1000 pupils who will be educated every year.

The Church will provide books and new desks to ensure quality and effective teaching and learning, while also hoping that the school’s curriculum will include more technological studies like artificial intelligence to develop the technology literacy skills of the children.

Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse, commended the Church for the support and encouraged other stakeholders, including the government, civil society organizations, financial institutions, and non-governmental organizations, to partner with him to create a brighter future for pupils of Adabraka and the Ga State.

He noted that the refurbishment would help provide access to education for children within and outside the Adabarka community to develop their potentials and make them better citizens. He also urged for such initiatives to be implemented across the country to help develop the nation.

For the most part, the renovation of the Mantse Tackie Tawiah I cluster of schools at Adabraka in Accra is a significant step towards improving the quality of education in the area and producing competent students who will contribute positively to national development. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ educational mission is admirable, and it is good to see the Church fulfilling that mission through such an important project.

Furthermore, the government, civil society organizations, financial institutions, and non-governmental organizations should join hands with the Church and the Ga Mantse to ensure that more schools across the country benefit from such projects.

In all, education is a fundamental human right that every child should have access to. By investing in education, we are investing in our future leaders, and it is a step towards building a brighter and better future for the nation.
