Ghanaian Highlife musician Kofi Kinaata has revealed that music promotion is a major issue in the industry, with artists having to pay large sums of money to get their music played on the radio and TV. In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Kinaata lamented that even the nicest songs would not get any airtime without paying for promotion.

For the most part, promoting songs has become a big deal and most musicians are struggling with it. Kinaata explained that having a big budget for promotion is necessary anytime an artist releases a song. This is a common challenge for many musicians in Ghana, and it often makes it difficult for talented artists to get the recognition they deserve.

Despite these challenges, Kinaata’s latest single, “Effiakuma Love,” has been getting a lot of buzz in the industry. The song, rendered in Reggae with Fante lyrics, has been well received by Ghanaians and is being played frequently on the radio.

Kinaata is known for his songwriting skills, having won the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Song Writer of the Year award four consecutive times. He has collaborated with top artists such as Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Samini, Stonebwoy, Kwesi Arthur, Jayso, Castro, and Becca, among others.

One of his major collaborations was with Castro on the song “Odo Pa,” which brought him mainstream success. The song, which also featured former Ghana Black Stars Captain Asamoah Gyan, was a hit and helped to establish Kinaata as a prominent artist in the industry.

Kinaata’s other songs, such as “Susuka,” “Adam and Eve,” “Time No Dey,” “Last Show,” “Single and Free,” and “Things Fall Apart,” have also been well received by fans.

All in all, the struggle to promote music is a significant challenge in the Ghanaian music industry. However, Kinaata’s talent and hard work have allowed him to overcome these obstacles and become a successful artist.
