GOC Appoints Yaw Ampofo Ankrah as Head of Mission for African Beach Games

The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has named its Communications Director, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, as the Head of Mission for Team Ghana. He will take charge of the team’s preparations and activities ahead of the upcoming African Beach Games scheduled to take place in Tunisia in 2023.

Ankrah’s appointment takes immediate effect, and he will represent Ghana at the three-day African Beach Games Summit in Tunis. The summit will bring together Heads of Missions from different African countries to discuss the games’ logistics and organization.

The Ghana Beach Soccer Chairman is expected to bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new role. Ankrah has served in various capacities in the sports industry, including as a broadcaster and commentator for several international networks, and as a presenter on GTV Sports+.

He has also been involved in promoting and developing sports in Ghana and Africa, particularly beach soccer. He served as a member of the Local Organising Committee for the 2013 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup and was instrumental in securing Ghana’s participation in the 2018 edition of the tournament.

Ankrah’s appointment is a significant development for Team Ghana’s participation in the African Beach Games, as it signals the GOC’s commitment to ensuring the country performs well at the event.
