GFA Announces Nominees for 2022/23 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League Awards

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the nominees for the various categories of the NASCO awards for the 2022/23 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League season. The awards recognize outstanding players, coaches, and other key contributors to the league.

Five players have been nominated for the top award of Player of the Season. The nominees are Mary Amponsah of Ampem Darkoa, Helena Obeng of Prisons Ladies, Maafia Nyame of Faith Ladies, Linda Owusu Ansah of Supreme Ladies, and Faiza Seidu of Northern Ladies. These players have shown impressive skills and performance throughout the season, making them strong contenders for the award.

The Discovery of the Season category features four players who have demonstrated exceptional potential and talent. These players are Helen Alomenu of Essiam Socrates, Sarah Abrafi of Dreamz Ladies, Afia Twumwaa of Faith Ladies, and Haruna Zainab of Tamale Super Ladies. The winner of this award will likely be one to watch in the coming seasons.

Princess Owusu of Fabulous Ladies will take home the Top Scorer of the League crown, having scored an impressive 17 goals for her side. The goalkeeper of the season award will be contested by Grace Banwaa of Hasaacas Ladies, Evelyn Yeboah of Army Ladies, and Farahana Ziblim of Prisons Ladies.

The Defender of the Season category sees Grace Ntsiful of Northern Ladies, Anasthesia Achiaa of Ampem Darkoa Ladies, Martha Appiah of Berry Ladies, and Adama Alhassan of Army Ladies vying for the award. These players have been instrumental in their respective teams’ defense throughout the season.

Lastly, the Coach of the Season award will go to one of Yusif Basigi of Hasaacas Ladies, Joe Nana Adarkwa of Ampem Darkoa, or Joseph Anyagre of Army Ladies. These coaches have led their teams to great success this season, making it a tough decision for the judges.

All in all, the nominees for the NASCO awards have shown exceptional skills and dedication throughout the 2022/23 season. Winners of the various awards will be revealed after the final match between Ampem Darkoa Ladies and Hasaacas Ladies in Kumasi on Friday, May 12, 2023. The awards ceremony promises to be a thrilling event, showcasing the best of women’s football in Ghana.
