Former President John Dramani Mahama has called on members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Wiawso constituency to unite and work towards winning the parliamentary seat back from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections. Speaking at a gathering of delegates and party supporters during his two-day tour of the Western North Region, the former President stressed the importance of party unity, saying that “if the party is united there is no way the NPP can beat the NDC in Wiawso again.”

Mahama reiterated his commitment to supporting the NDC branch executives and called on them to monitor the polls closely to ensure a victory for the party in the next elections. He also promised that a future NDC government would prioritize the support of small and medium-scale enterprises, particularly those involved in animal rearing.

During his address, Mahama accused the current administration of failing to fulfill its promises to the Ghanaian people and emphasized the importance of voting for the NDC to improve the lives of Ghanaians. He criticized the government’s handling of the National Health Insurance Scheme and promised to address the issue if elected.

The Wiawso constituency chairperson, Mr Patrick Quainoo, pledged full support for Mahama and appealed to him to prioritize the employment of youth in the area in his future government. Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, a former Member of Parliament for the Wiawso constituency, also accused the NPP government of abandoning road projects initiated by the previous Mahama administration and urged residents of the Western North Region to vote for the NDC in the next elections.

Mahama was accompanied by Professor Joshua Alabi, campaign manager, Mr Alfred Mahama, Mr Ade Coker, and other high-ranking NDC officials during his visit to the region.

All in all, Mahama’s message to NDC supporters in Wiawso highlights the importance of party unity and commitment to securing a victory in the 2024 elections. His promises to support small and medium-scale enterprises and address issues with the National Health Insurance Scheme, as well as his criticism of the NPP government’s track record on infrastructure projects, are likely to resonate with voters in the region. The support pledged by party officials and the former MP for Wiawso demonstrate the continued relevance of Mahama and the NDC in Ghanaian politics.Former President John Mahama urges NDC members to unite and win Wiawso seat in Western North Region
