For kinship blessings, Bawumia travelled to Walewale

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president, went recently in Walewale, it has come to light, to get blessings from his chiefs and his people.

The vice president maintained relationships with members of his party, the New Patriotic Party, as well as stakeholders and interest organisations, the Daily Guide newspaper reported.

The vice president was also given a “triumphant reception by his kinsmen in Walewale, in the North East Region, he visited with “chief and opinion leaders in his home region,” the newspaper reported.

It was also stated in the article that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia had already told President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of his intention to succeed him as NPP leader and to run in the general elections of 2024.

In Walewale, the second man engaged with the locals as well, listening to their worries and reassuring them that the government is still dedicated to meeting their needs and improving their lives.

Prior to officially announcing his desire to run as the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer, the vice president was in Walewale, according to a previous GhanaWeb story.

Alan Kyerematen, a former minister of trade and industry, as well as Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a former minister of food and agriculture, are just a few of the contenders for the party who have so far expressed interest in leading it.
