Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Zaruk, a parliamentary aspirant in the Bimbilla seat, has accused the Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Mohammed Adam Bantima Samba, of undermining him in order to disqualify him ahead of the next parliamentary primaries.

The contender claims that the Northern Regional Chairman personally phoned him to encourage him to withdraw from the forthcoming NPP primaries, but he refused.

“Chairman Samba called and asked me to step down and I refused then he told me that he would mafia me and I’m sure this is the mafia work. The vetting committee chairman wanted to clear me but Chairman Samba was inside to fight the committee chairman so you see the conduct of Chairman Samba? What have I done wrong? Nitiwul has been MP for several years so why can’t anybody contest him”. He wondered

He stated that the Bimbilla constituency chairman and other officials forbade him from running against the incumbent MP, Dominic Nitiwul.

“The Bimbilla chairman and his executives invited me and told me not to pick the nomination forms because they didn’t want me to contest in the elections so how do you expect fairness”. He lamented.

Meanwhile, fans of Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Zaruk have vowed to vote skirt and blouse in the 2024 general election if the party forces them to vote for a candidate.

In an interview, the Chairman of the Vetting Committee, Kwodwo Afari, could not say definitively if the contender Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Zaruk had been dismissed or not.

“The aspirant Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Zaruk came before the committee and admitted he didn’t file his forms properly and we were willing to allow him to file the forms properly but his attitude after the vetting shows that he is not willing to be a good party person and he also admitted that the forms he showed to the media was a rough work he did on the forms but he aimed to transfer the rough work onto the main forms so he admitted and apologized to the committee”.

The Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Mohammed Adam Bantima Samba, denied undermining the contender, saying that as the party’s chairman, it was his obligation to guarantee that the party choose a candidate capable of winning the Bimbilla seat.
