The Central Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Ibrahim Tijani Mensah, has urged Muslims and Christians in Ghana to continue living together peacefully and being vigilant against extremist threats.

He called on the public to be more aware of the dangers posed by violent extremist groups, especially at community gatherings. Despite the country’s ethnic and religious diversity, Ghana has maintained unity and peace, and Sheikh Mensah urged Ghanaians to continue guarding this important achievement.

The Regional Chief Imam reminded Muslims of the teachings of the Quran, which repeatedly emphasizes the rights and freedoms of non-Muslims. He encouraged Muslims to live by these teachings and not to force their beliefs on others, but rather to convert them through the religion’s beauty. In addition, he called on Muslims to pray fervently for the country as it faces difficult times.

Cape Coast South Chairperson of the New Patriotic Party, Madam Carolyn Ewusi, commended Muslims for their continuous prayers for the peace and progress of the nation. She presented gifts to the Muslim community and encouraged them to continue praying for the country during these turbulent economic times.

Member of Parliament for Cape Coast, Mr. Kweku George Ricketts-Hagan, called on all Ghanaians to pray for the national leadership to turn the country’s economic fortunes around for the benefit of the people. He urged Ghanaians to stand against the imposition of LGBTQ+ on the country, stating that it was not in line with the country’s cultural norms and traditions. The next National Democratic Congress government will complete all E-blocks to bring quality education to all people, regardless of location or social standing.

All in all, Sheikh Mensah’s call for religious tolerance and vigilance against extremist threats is a timely reminder for Ghanaians to continue living together peacefully. Ghanaians must be aware of extremist groups and their activities, and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. In addition, it is essential to continue praying for the country’s leadership and to reject any practices that are not in line with Ghana’s cultural norms and traditions. Finally, the promise to complete all E-blocks is a welcome development that will help bring quality education to all Ghanaians.
