Canon the Rev. Charles Amankwah, a Ghanaian priest who spent 17 years serving as a Catholic priest before changing to the Anglican church, has remarked about how difficult it was for him to be married and have his wife as his first love.

Rev. Canon Amankwah, who appeared beside his wife on the StandPoint programme created by Oheneyere Gifty Anti, explained to the audience why he abandoned his own theories and principles in favour of a woman.

The man of God left the Catholic church and joined the Anglican church, and it came out during the interview that the couple has been married for the previous ten years since that time.

He had previously worked as the assistant parish priest for Agormanya’s Holy Trinity Parish in the Eastern Region. He was thereafter selected to take on the role of parish priest at St. Barbara Parish in Akosombo, Eastern Region.

Rumor has it that Rev. Amankwah decided to leave the Catholic church since his prayer ministry he created did not behave in accordance with the organization’s tenets.

After quitting the Catholic faith, he acknowledged that it was challenging for him to express his love for Ruth, a teacher and mother of three, and that his father had to pursue her on his behalf.

A challenging proposal. My father proposed to Ruth on my behalf because I was unable to propose to my wife, Rev. Amankwah remembered.

Before their marriage, which has been going on for nine years and counting, the pair said they had never had an intimate relationship.

When it came time to get personal, Rev. Amankwah claimed it was difficult just like confessing his love to Ruth, and the first night was amazing.

“My first night as a married man was not simple. I just couldn’t picture stripping off in front of my wife. To find the fortitude to have a secret knowledge of my wife, I had to turn to prayer. Since then, I have prayed before having an affair, he admitted.
