Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy National Communications Officer Kweku Boahen has attacked Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s bid for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer post.

Speaking at a panel discussion on November 2, 2023, on UTV’s Adekye Nsroma, he said that if Bawumia wins the NPP’s flagbearer position, the NDC will celebrate with a feast.

He said that among the four candidates running for the position, the vice president is the “worst candidate” and that NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama is superior to him.

“Can he even speak now? When he went campaigning, was he able to list just one particular thing that he could do as a president?

“Have you seen him being able to engage the media, because he is afraid that the media will ask him questions? If Bawumia wins, we will kill a very fat cow because he is the one, we are looking for.

“He is the worst person who cannot compete with John Mahama, which is why he has been engaging in tribal politics in the north,” he said.

Bawumia will compete for the position of flagbearer alongside three other candidates: Kennedy Agyapong, a member of parliament for Assin Central; Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto; and Francis Addai-Nimoh.

The NPP has set November 4, 2023, as the date to choose a new party leader to succeed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
