Rocco Montessori School receives fire safety education on International Firefighters Day

In commemoration of International Firefighters Day, students of Rocco Montessori School located at Medie, in the Ga West Municipality of Greater Accra Region received fire safety sensitization at the Forecourt of GBC. The event was aimed at educating students on basic fire safety measures and the importance of reaching out to the Ghana National Fire Service in the event of a fire outbreak.

During the event, the students were taken through some basic drills in putting off domestic fire with a fire extinguisher. The practical demonstration was to ensure that the students know how to use a fire extinguisher in case of a fire emergency. The students were also educated on the need to have an emergency fire plan in place and to know the location of fire exits in their homes and schools.

To emphasize the importance of the event, a minute of silence was observed for firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The event was organised by the Ghana National Fire Service to commemorate the contributions of firefighters to society and to create awareness on the importance of fire safety.

For the most part, the sensitization program was timely, considering the increasing cases of fire outbreaks in the country. The initiative will go a long way to equip the students with the knowledge and skills to prevent and manage fire emergencies. It is also a reminder to all Ghanaians to prioritize fire safety measures in their homes and workplaces.

In conclusion, the sensitization program is a step in the right direction towards creating a fire-safe environment for Ghanaians. It is important that schools and organizations continue to prioritize fire safety education to reduce the occurrence of fire outbreaks and protect lives and properties.
