With the internal elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) drawing closer, Kojo Bonsu, one of the dark horses of the flagbearership, is confident of causing a major upset in the race with his “acceptability message” in the Central region.

Mr. Bonsu, a former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, has been touring the region as part of his “Reboot Tour Campaign,” where he has been assuring delegates of his ability to lead the party to victory in the 2024 elections.

“I am confident of winning the support of delegates in the Central region, who play a crucial role in determining the party’s success in the upcoming elections,” he said.

Mr. Bonsu is in the race with two other prominent figures in the party, former President John Dramani Mahama and former Finance Minister Kwabena Duffuor, for the single slot to be determined on May 13.

As part of his campaign in the region, Mr. Bonsu has visited several constituencies, including Agona East, Agona West, and Abura Asebu Kwamankese, to engage with NDC delegates and canvass for their support.

“We must not only be confident in our competency, given our internal contests, but also be cognizant of the one that matters, which is getting the constitutionally mandated backing of all Ghanaians who are registered voters,” he said.

The NDC internal elections are crucial to the party’s fortunes in the upcoming general elections, and Mr. Bonsu believes his message of “acceptability” will resonate with party delegates and ultimately lead to his victory in the race.
