A Ghanaian passenger was recently caught by the metal detector at Heathrow Airport in the United Kingdom when he was found to be wearing seven layers of clothing to avoid paying for excess luggage charges. The man, who was travelling to Accra in Ghana, had opted for this unusual solution to avoid overweight fees, but his plan was foiled when the metal detector drew attention to his multiple layers of clothing.

The man initially tried to explain that he had multiple layers of clothing on because of the cold weather, but the security officials suspected that the excess clothing was a possible reason for the overweight charge. When they discovered that one of the shirts had a metal button, they suspected that this was what was setting off the metal detector.

The officials conducted a more thorough search of the man in a private room, but with so many layers of clothing on, they were unable to determine what was causing the metal detector to go off. The man repeatedly insisted that he was wearing so many clothes because of the cold weather.

The officials eventually determined that there was nothing sinister going on and that it was just the metal button on one of the shirts that was causing the detector to go off. They thanked the man for his patience and allowed him to continue on his journey.

While the incident may seem humorous, it highlights a serious issue for many travellers who are often hit with exorbitant excess luggage fees. For the most part, travellers are advised to pack light and only bring essential items on their journey to avoid such fees. It is important to note that attempting to circumvent airline rules and regulations can result in significant delays and even legal action.
