Let’s leverage on AfDB funding to secure future partners – MASLOC CEO

Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama Zakariah, the chief executive officer of MASLOC, has asked staff members, stakeholders, and other affiliated entities to give it their all in order to capitalize on the success of the AfDB funding to the organization.

This was expressed by her on the sidelines of the $31.34 million joint Post-COVID-19 award announcement by the governments of Ghana and the Africa Development Bank in Accra.

In her remarks, she emphasized the need for care to be taken to ensure that important indicators for the measuring of the project’s performance are closely adhered to in order to realize its full advantages.

She also stressed that the Livelihood Restoration Program’s execution would focus on a livelihood restoration approach that will assist young people and women in promptly resuming life-supporting occupations in order to lessen their vulnerability to the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic.

She continued, It is recommended that the primary livelihood support program focus on skills training and attention be paid to the needs of disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals, groups among the youth, and women, given the importance of entrepreneurship and employment creation for youth and women and the link between livelihood, sources of income, and vulnerability.

She emphasized further that determining the chance that a person or a group may encounter harsher conditions as a result of the Covid-19 affects will help identify those who are marginalized or disadvantaged who may be more likely than others to have negative effects from the Covid-19.

She thanked the GoG and AfDB for their support of MASLOC, stating that this was the organization’s first award of this kind and that it would assist open the door to finance to supplant the growing need for institutional sources of funding.

She made it clear that she would keep working to ensure that the group accomplishes its obligation to reduce poverty by generating work and wealth for both women and young people.

She emphasized the significance of MASLOC having a strong brand image that corresponds with its name, as this will help the organization position itself to attract future donations with the intention of assisting marginalized groups based on gender, economic status, and other aspects.

She was optimistic since, since her appointment as CEO, the execution of new reforms has advanced quickly and contributed to the establishment’s positive reputation.

She used the occasion to express her gratitude to the government and the AfDB for providing the funding, noting that it is crucial and strategically important to support this special initiative by contacting more Developmental Finance Institutions in order to support “our efforts in providing access to financing for all customer segments across sectors, particularly those in agriculture value chains, MSMEs, Youth and Women businesses.”
