Superintendents George Asare and Emmanuel Gyebi have been detained by the Ghana Police Service because of their suspected participation in a video that was released that detailed a conspiracy to depose IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

This was said in a statement that ASP Grace Ansah Akrofi, the director of public affairs, signed.

The statement claims that the interdiction is necessary to allow for disciplinary actions to be taken against them for their behavior in accordance with Service rules.

In a similar incident, COP George Alex Mensah, the director of operations, has also been immediately interdicted.

He has been told to turn over to Depol Logistics his firearms, clothing, and other police equipment.

The three officers spoke before the parliamentary committee looking into the incident and revealed shocking discoveries about the service, which prompted the action.

Dr. Dampare, according to COP Mensah, is the worst IGP in Ghanaian history and has mismanaged the Police Service.

He said the audio was fake and doctored, and he charged the IGP of orchestrating its recording.

During his presence, Supt. Asare added support to the charges, claiming that ASP Asante helped former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Northern Regional Chairman Bugri Naabu record the recording or the IGP.

He advised COP Mensah to Bugri Naabu because he believed COP Mensah would make a better IGP than Dr. Dampare.
