Zapp Mallet, a Ghanaian sound engineer and song producer, has finally apologized for brazenly discouraging Afua Asantewaa from breaking the Singathon record.
He has previously raised doubts about Afua Asantewaa Aduonum’s ability to break the Guinness World Records record for the longest singing marathon.
Zapp Mallet had a different stance, questioning Asantewaa’s prospects of success, but the Ghanaian artist Asantewaa gained immense support as she embarked on her ambitious journey.
On his X page, Zapp aired his thoughts on the current singing marathon, casting doubt on Asantewaa’s techniques and vocal range.
He went on to express concern about her voice, meaning that she needed instruction to keep on pitch and avoid fatigue.
“Even professional singers won’t attempt a feat like this without a voice coach around to be coaching what to do. No strategy. Just play, I will sing.”
He went on to ask her to go find some food, eat it, and quit wasting her time.
This enraged many Ghanaians, who accused him of being a hater. Zapp Mallet, in response, chose to apologize.
