Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, a member of parliament for the Korle Klottey seat, has lamented that some residents in her district purposefully destroy her campaign posters.
She said that this behavior offers her rivals in the NDC and the NPP, whose posters are unaltered, an unfair advantage.
According to Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings, certain party executives are responsible for this crime.
She claimed, however, that because she joined this competition knowing that preferential treatment was not assured, she was not worried by the intimidation.
Dr. Zenator said that despite these difficulties, she was able to win the NDC primary.
Despite the difficulties, Zanetor reaffirmed her steadfast dedication to serving her district.
“Despite facing external forces and adversity, I managed to secure victory in the primaries. I entered this journey with the understanding that preferential treatment was not guaranteed. Although there have been moments of challenge and doubt, I have never regretted my decision to serve my constituency. I have always found the strength to persevere and stay committed to my goals” she said.
In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen program, the Korle Klottey MP revealed this while addressing the politics of insults directed at women.
Dr. Zenator vehemently denounced such comments, seeing the harm they did to society.
She emphasized the major obstacles women experience when they are the object of disparaging remarks, pointing out that it becomes incredibly difficult for women to succeed in any field when they are repeatedly singled out.
In order to make society safer and more welcoming for women, Zanetor urged a change in mentality. She pledged to protect her daughters, in particular, from the harm brought on by such remarks, and to serve as a constructive role model for kids.
“I am committed to setting a positive example for our children, and I am determined to shield them from the harm caused by such insults” she stated.
She emphasized the importance of the media in fostering gender equality and cited the Constitution’s acknowledgement of the role the media plays in society.
She underlined her ongoing commitment to serving her citizens and bringing about constructive change within her area and beyond, despite encountering countless obstacles and failures.
