Yawsae-Antwikrom Road Project: A Cry for Timely Completion

Residents of Yawsae and Antwikrom, a farming community near Sunyani, are calling on the regional feeder roads engineer to ensure the timely completion of the Yawsae-Antwikrom feeder road. The 4.5-kilometer road is essential for the transportation of goods, access to markets, and the provision of essential services to the community.

Although the construction firm, Aspire Resource Company Limited, completed most of the necessary work on the road nearly three months ago, delayed payments have led to the project’s abandonment. This has caused distress among the residents who fear being cut off from Sunyani during heavy rainfall if the road remains unfinished.

Inconsistent supervision by the Regional Feeder Road Engineer is the main cause of the delay. This has hindered the process of the construction firm obtaining its payment certificate from the government, creating further obstacles to the road’s completion.

For the most part, residents of Yawsae and Antwikrom are frustrated with the situation. The road is crucial for the community’s economic activities, particularly cocoa production. It also facilitates the daily commute of teachers and nurses to the local health facility and M/A Primary and Junior High School.

The completion of the Yawsae-Antwikrom road is not only important for the convenience of the community but also for their overall well-being. The timely fulfillment of this crucial infrastructure project will enhance transportation links, facilitate economic activities, and contribute to the sustainable growth of the community.

In a nutshell, the residents of Yawsae and Antwikrom are calling on local authorities and relevant stakeholders to prioritize the completion of the road project. The timely resolution of this issue will not only prevent disruption during the rainy season but also support the sustainable growth of the community and bolster cocoa production in the region.
