Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia can become the party’s flagbearer, according to Mr. Yaw Adomako Baafi, the former communications director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Yaw Adomako Baafi predicts that in order to win the election in November, Dr. Bawumia would defeat his rivals by a larger margin.
There is no chance he will lose because nothing will be able to prevent him from being chosen as the flagbearer. There is nothing I can say about this because he has already stated his intentions. Speaking to Hello FM, Mr. Yaw Adomako Baafi said
The former acting director of the NPP’s communications added support to his claim by asserting that President Akufo-Addo’s selection of Bawumia as his running mate in the 2008, 2012, and 2016 elections alone is proof that he is qualified to lead the party.
Regarding the vice president’s qualifications, Mr. Adomako Baafi said that while the 1992 Ghanaian Constitution does not specifically define the vice president’s duties, Dr. Bawumia has implemented many commendable programmes, such as the digitization of the economy and other initiatives that have benefited the nation.
He claims that because he recognised Dr. Bawumia’s aptitude in economic management, former president John Agyekum Kufuor brought Dr. Bawumia close to him during his administration by selecting him as a deputy governor at the Bank of Ghana.
He emphasised that Former President John Agyekum Kufuor brought him to the Bank of Ghana to work since he was the first to discover him and recognise his ability.
