The young woman who spilled an acidic liquid on her husband’s girlfriend has ultimately been sentenced to 10 years in jail by the Akyem Swedru Circuit Court.
The Akyem Swedru Circuit Court received a criminal case on July 29, 2020, from the Akyem Oda District Command.
The girlfriend, Miss Patience Amerado, was attacked with acid in her room at Oda SDA in the Eastern Region by the victim, identified as Mrs. Vida Brakoa, 31, the wife of Mr. Samuel Marfo.
The Akyem Swedru Circuit Court, presided over by his Lordship William Appiah Twumasi, rendered its verdict on the matter on Thursday, August 8, 2023.
Vida Brakoa was given a 10-year jail term and ordered to pay Miss Patience Amerado GHS 100,000 in restitution.
Sophia Botwe, the victim’s mother, urged people and charitable organizations to contribute to her daughter’s operation in an interview with Adom News.
Victor Amerado, the victim’s father, expressed his relief at the verdict even though the victim has a disfigured face and has spent money on medical expenses for the past three years.
