Mrs. Bogpoka Abanga, who is suspected of murdering her husband, Mr. Agyei Abanga, has been handed over to the police by her family. According to reports, the woman was brought to the Pelungu Police Command in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region along with three of her children by her brother from Walewale, where she had reportedly fled to after the alleged murder.
The head of the bereaved family, Mr. Bawa Dagal-kurug, confirmed that the family of the suspect had informed them of her whereabouts, and her brother had brought her and the children to them. Due to the sensitive nature of the issue, the family was unable to directly hand her over to the police, so they turned her over to them along with the children.
The station officer of the Pelungu Police Command, Inspector of Police Mohammed Ibrahim, has confirmed that the suspect is in police custody, and the investigation is ongoing. The suspect is alleged to have hit the head of the deceased multiple times with a pestle, locked him up and fled with her children to Walewale. The deceased was found dead the next morning, with his body showing signs of severe trauma.
The police have stated that a postmortem will be carried out on the body on Thursday, April 20, 2023, and the suspect will be charged in court accordingly. The family of the deceased has appealed to the police to investigate the matter thoroughly, as the brutal murder of their son is highly unacceptable and must not be taken lightly. The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the community, with many calling for justice to be served.
