A video of an opposition MP bragging about the infrastructure improvements he has made in his district is being shared by a number of government officials.

Rockson Nelson-Dafeamekpor’s nearly 8-minute speech on Joy News earlier this week has garnered praise from members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), who are moved by his candour regarding how his constituency, South Dayi, is benefited by government initiatives.

The MP states in his introduction:  “South Dayi, even though I serve as an opposition member of parliament for a government to which I do not belong, I can say that I have successfully advocated for many issues on behalf of my district.”

He mentioned several government initiatives in the areas of education and health from which his district has benefited, highlighting several GETFund projects for Senior High Schools in particular and an Agenda 111 project in his district.

In response to the Facebook video, a member of the presidential staff named Dennis Miracles Aboagye wrote: “This is how the testimonies will come through as we move into the election time.
One Constituency at a time, the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia tale will be recounted.

Watch as my Senior Brother, Hon. Dafeamekpor, MP for South Dayi for the NDC, lists the several projects the government has completed for the residents of South Dayi. The resources (income and loans) have been used in this way. We will rise gradually but steadily.

Richard Ahiagbah, the director of communications for the NPP, tweeted the video on his behalf along with the following statement: “The NDC likes to question what the government has done with the funds and resources at its disposal. Hon. Deafeamekpor, however, has all the solutions. The money has been invested, and the NDC is aware of this.
