King Promise, whose real name is Gregory Bortey Newman, has been making waves in the Ghanaian music industry since the release of his hit single “Oh Yeah” in 2017. The music star has since released several other hit songs, including “Tokyo” featuring Nigerian artist Wizkid and “CCTV” featuring Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie.
Which award did King Promise win?
King Promise won an award after his subsequent snub in the industry at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) with the Best Afropop/Afrobeat Artiste of the Year. The Ghanaian singer has two albums to his credit titled “As Promised” in 2019 and “5 Star” in 2022.
King Promise is signed to the record label Legacy Life Entertainment which is managed by Gervin Ohene Addo. Dj Vision featured King Promise on his record Double Trouble” which topped radio charts for weeks.
He is a very talented artist and considers himself versatile. His music genres include R and B, Afrobeats, Highlife, and Hip-hop. Other hit songs include “Selfish”, “CCTV”, and “Oh Yeah” among many others.
Awards or not, I was born to do this. I make this music from a special place, and it’s not because of awards. So, for that fact, when we get an award, we drop bangers, when we don’t get an award, we still drop bangers, we just keep going,” King Promise affirmed.
