The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Amenfi Central constituency, Peter Kwakye-Ackah has revealed why he believes his constituents should retain him as their representative in Parliament. In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Thursday, he stated that if the NDC wins power in 2024, he may be appointed as the Minister for Roads and Highways. By this, Mr. Kwakye-Ackah said he would ensure that his constituency has good roads.

“I remember when Mahama visited me, I told him when NDC wins, I want to be the Roads Minister and he laughed. When I am appointed as the Roads Minister, I will construct and fix all the roads in my constituency,” he said.

The Amenfi Central MP is seeking to retain his position ahead of the NDC’s parliamentary primaries and is urging delegates to vote for him to continue his good works. Another term in Parliament would give him a greater chance of getting an appointment in the future NDC government led by former President John Mahama, he explained.

“That is why I want to be retained and continue to be in Parliament to get a top position in government. It is important I’m retained so that Amenfi Central can also be known in Parliament,” he said.

The importance of good roads cannot be overemphasized as it is crucial to the development of communities, and Mr. Kwakye-Ackah’s promise to fix the roads in his constituency if appointed as the Minister of Roads and Highways is a laudable one. It is also understandable that he wants to be retained in Parliament to increase his chances of getting a top position in government, and his constituents would benefit from having someone in such a position who is familiar with their needs and can advocate for them effectively.
