In the upcoming by-election, the widow of a National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporter who died while on a campaigning trip with former President John Mahama in Assin Dansame in the Assin North Constituency has urged residents to not let his wife’s sacrifice go in vain by casting a sizable number of votes for the NDC.
The deceased’s husband, Yaw Sarfo, who also serves as a branch executive for the party, claimed that his wife suffered a horrible death while serving the cause of the party she cherished. He thus made a plea to the party’s leadership to always uphold his wife’s memory and fidelity.
“In order to prevent any further fatalities during the impending by-election, I suggest that we exercise extreme caution. I once more urge the people to vote en masse for Gyakye Quayson, the NDC candidate for MP, in order for him to be able to assist care for the children my wife’s death has left behind when he comes into power, in light of the terrible loss of my wife.
On Saturday, a traffic accident claimed the life of an NDC supporter who was accompanying the former president John Mahama on his campaign in the Central Region’s Assin North constituency. Other others were injured.
Due to the disaster, the former president had to halt his campaigning for two hours in order to pay respects to the victims’ families and the injured.
“After our engagement at Dansame, I had to take a two-hour break from my campaign in Assin North to see injured supporters who were engaged in an accident. Unfortunately, we lost a fellow soldier who had excitedly joined the project. Our sincere sympathies to her family,” stated his post.
