Togbui Afede XIV, board chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak, has launched a stinging attack on the National Sports Authority (NSA) over their decision to shut the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Agbogbomefia of Asogli state did not hold back in a heated address at a news conference on Thursday, calling out the NSA leadership.
The NSA announced its plan to shut the Accra Sports Stadium for sporting events in November.
Ghana Premier League clubs Accra Hearts of Oak, Great Olympics, and Accra Lions utilize the facilities.
The greatest game on the Ghanaian football calendar, Hearts of Oak vs Asante Kotoko, was shifted from Accra to Kumasi two weeks ago as a result of the decision.
“Not available for sports but available for ‘soloku’! The Accra Sports Stadium now hosts musical concerts instead of sports events.”
It has, however, been made available for music events.
The first of them was a gospel performance including musicians such as Joe Mettle and Nathaniel Bassey from Nigeria.
Stonebwoy’s annual “Bhim Concert” was also held at the arena last week.
