Dr. Bawumia entered the kitchen, waving to the throng, and had a lengthy, lively interaction with a very startled and thrilled Faila. Hundreds of journalists surrounding the Vice President for interviews. He admired Faila’s determination and “possibility mindset,” as well as the outpouring of support from young Ghanaians.

This is Dr. Bawumia’s second show of steadfast support for Ghana’s record-breaking young people in recent days. He earlier cheered on Afua Asantewaa’s bid to set the world record for longest singing marathon in Accra, when she reached 120 hours (confirmation from Guinness World Records is pending). He also arranged for her to spend a week at the exclusive Royal Senchi Resort to help her heal.

Dr. Bawumia gave 30,000cedis on the first day of Faila’s cook-a-thon to assist her in purchasing food and ingredients for the marathon. Faila has already beaten the previous record of 93 hours 11 minutes held by Nigerian Hilda Baci of 119 hours 57 minutes established by Irish Chef Alan Fisher.
