Diaspora Dance & Arts Day Party, the grandest dance event of the year, has been launched online, aimed at promoting Ghana’s rich cultural heritage through dance. The event, which is organized by U Dance Arts International USA, is set to take place on December 24 at Afrikiko Centre in Accra as part of the yuletide festivities.

Since the introduction of Year of Return in 2019, Ghana has been the go-to destination for African Americans and Black people from all over the world during Christmas. The Diaspora Dance & Arts Day Party is aimed at redefining the dance industry in Ghana, highlighting the different cultural dances in Ghana, and reinventing the dance industry.

Usher Frimpong, known in the entertainment industry as Usher 1, a member of the organizing team, explained that while many areas of the creative industry such as music, fashion, and movies have promoted Ghana’s culture during the period, little attention has been given to those in the dance sector. The Diaspora Dance & Arts Day Party, therefore, seeks to draw attention to the dance industry in Ghana and the various cultural dances in Ghana.

According to Usher 1, the Diaspora Dance & Arts Day Party is aimed at promoting traditional dances while also giving space to popular dances such as Azonto, Salsa, Kizomba, Ballet, and Bboy. He believes that this dance event will serve as a confidence booster for others who are reluctant to take their dancing talent to the professional level.

Although the event is still eight months away, the organizing team launched it early to create early interest and start promotions. Usher 1 has already contacted choreographers, studio owners, and dance directors in Ghana who have started working tirelessly to make the maiden event a success.

Diaspora Dance & Arts Day Party promises to be a night full of excitement, energy, and creativity, showcasing the very best of Ghana’s dance industry. It is expected to attract dance enthusiasts from all over the world, with the aim of promoting Ghana’s culture and fostering cultural exchange between Ghana and the diaspora.
