Tarek Mouganie, a successful businessman of Ghanaian and Lebanese descent, has credited his achievements to the values he learned during his upbringing in Ghana. In an interview with Rev Erskine on Y107.9FM Myd Morning Radio Show’s YLeaderBoardSeries, Mouganie, the founder of Affinity – a digitally-driven bank offering affordable financial services to underserved populations – highlighted the discipline instilled in him by his father, who always emphasized doing things the right way.

Mouganie stated that values such as treating everyone with respect and ensuring a good reputation have been key principles he has lived by since leaving Ghana at a young age. He also noted that surrounding himself with like-minded individuals who share these values has been critical to his continued success.

He emphasized the importance of doing things the right way, even if it may be the hard way. “If I commit to something, I needed to be sure that I was doing it the right way, which was sticking to my principles and values and being surrounded by people who share the same values,” he explained.

Mouganie’s story serves as a testament to the importance of values and discipline in achieving success. As Ghanaians, we should take pride in the values that have been instilled in us from a young age and ensure that we carry them with us throughout our lives. By surrounding ourselves with like-minded individuals who share these values, we can create a community that upholds the principles of hard work, respect, and integrity.

Let us continue to strive for success while upholding the values that make us proud to be Ghanaian. As Mouganie stated, “when you leave this earth you take nothing but your reputation with you.” Let us ensure that our reputation is one that reflects the values of our upbringing and the principles we hold dear.
