An alleged burglar was electrocuted while attempting to break into a mechanic shop in Fiapre, Sunyani West Municipality.
The thief, according to sources, traveled to the location late at night with three additional accomplices to do the crime.
The dead, only known as Frimpong, alias “Akalin,” entered the business through a small hole under it while the other conspirators were standing outside, according to Madam Akua Asamoah, a local resident who spoke to the GNA.
She said that when attempting to leave the store via the same entrance way, Frimpong stumbled on a live wire and was fatally electrocuted.
His loud yell startled his coworkers, who fled and abandoned him to his fate.
Mad. Asamoah claimed that when some neighbors heard the yell early in the morning, they ran to the scene and saw only one of the deceased’s hands sticking out of the store, while the other hand was holding a large number of cables.
She said that after informing the shop owner, they discovered the burglar dead on the floor, surrounded by stolen goods, when he arrived to open the store.
Mad. Asamoah claimed the event was reported to the Police, who after taking some photos at the spot for investigations, transported the deceased to the mortuary.
