An SHS student at the Twifu Hemang Technical Institute who is in his final year is fighting for his life after being hacked with a machete for a GHC 5 debt.
The incident allegedly happened on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Jukwa in the Twifu Hemang Lower Denkyira District of the Central Region, according to a published by adomonline.com.
According to sources, the victim, Davis Nkrumah, who had been attending school for a few weeks, had not paid the GH5.00 debt he owed to a man only known as Salinko.
After learning that the victim had come home for the weekend, the suspect allegedly went to his residence and attacked him with a machete without speaking to him or giving him any warning.
The victim’s screams caught the attention of the neighbourhood, and they quickly arrived and disarmed the culprit.
The suspect said that while the victim was still a student, he made an unsuccessful attempt to take the money from him.
He stated he couldn’t explain what motivated him to assault the victim while carrying a machete.
As part of the inquiry, the suspect is being held by the Jukwa Police while the victim is being treated at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.
