Sports Equity Lab Organizes Speed Clinic for Ghanaian Athletes Ahead of 2023 African Games

Sports Equity Lab, a research organization focused on inclusive sports environments, is set to host a Max Velocity Speed Summit for Ghanaian athletes at the University of Ghana athletics oval. The speed clinic, which will take place on Wednesday, April 26, will have an international team of coaches led by renowned speed coach Loren Seagrave. The aim is to help the athletes and their coaches improve their performances ahead of the 2023 African Games, where Ghana will host 36 African nations.

The event is a testament to the importance of science in sports performance, and the success that comes with inclusive sports environments. The Max Velocity Speed Summit brings athletes from different sports, backgrounds, and abilities together to hone their skills. Celebrated Jamaican sprinter, Asafa Powell, who holds the 100 meters world record twice, is expected to attend the event alongside other special guests. In addition to the speed clinic, there will be a Sports Equity Talk on “The Neurobiomechanics of Maximum Velocity Sprinting” at the Cedi Conference Centre on Thursday, April 27 at 4 pm. The team will also participate in Ghana’s Fastest Human Track and Field competition in Tamale on Saturday, April 29.
